This is the time of year manufacturers and fabricators begin to shut the doors. Often this is the only way fresh air finds it’s way into the building. This is not a problem in the summer, however the cooler winter months, present challenges to companies who need turn over the air in their building to keep the air quality at a reasonable level for their employees.
Welding smoke, dust and fumes create a huge issue for the human body. Fresh air exchange isn’t the only way to impact Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), but it is simply THE BEST way to create a healthier environment for employers most valuable asset, their workers.
Keep The Heat Air Exchangers have been helping companies for over 20 years. There are two main principles Keep The Heat utilizes to be the best solution for Fabricators.
Displacement Ventilation – By separating the good air (incoming) from the bad air (exhaust) we create a breathing zone at the floor level. The exhaust port for the system is at the ceiling and the fresh air is delivered to floor. This creates an airflow pattern consistent with the naturally rising welding smoke. This way we don’t have to turn over ALL the air in your building. That old method very costly and inefficient. Rather the breathing zone the workers stands in is filled with fresh air while the smoke remains at the ceiling until it is drawn out of the exhaust port.
Heat Exchange – As we draw the warm dirty air through the exhaust port, the incoming fresh air is warmed up as it travels through the exchange duct. This way we can deliver fresh air, to the shop floor, within 10-15 degrees of the inside ceiling temperature. So, if it’s 0 degrees F outside and 60 degrees F inside, that 0 degree fresh air is delivered to shop floor at 45-50 degrees F! As heating costs rise, this heat savings adds up quickly.
